Lowcost websites, anyone?

On the subject mentioned previously, I'd love to help if anyone wants to put together a website. I'm stuck at home on a sickness benefit, and trying to figure out what skills I have that I can turn to the business of making some money. To that end, I'm happy to do sites for little more than the hosting and DNS costs, just to develope my skills and get a name out there.

Blog bug fixed

Well, that was interesting. I write a post about Eric Raymond, and my source code vanishes! King Billy has eyes everywhere. :-) Oh well. All fixed now. I just need to get those google ads setup again, and everything will be sorted.
On a slightly different note, there maybe a couple of websites in need of an upgrade that I can help with. If all goes well, I'll eventually be able to form K.I.S.S. AKA K.i.s.s Internet Sites and Solutions, a division of Brightspark Enterprises. If that does work out, the next step will be F.F.F AKA Force Fed Fundamentals, the motortsport division of Brightspark Enterprises. And from there, onwards and upwards. My dream is to engage in a little social engineering, Patrician style.

Just found my ESR!

In looking up some generic Python stuff, I found an article by Eric the uber-hacker on the subject. Firstly, the article would suggest its the right language for me to start with. Secondly, it reminded me of some of the other stuff he does.
I particularly like his answer to the frequently aked question 'Can you help me with a windows problem?' The answer being to format the c drive. I only wish I could. I hope to get hold of an old pc from my inlaws that I can use as a linux box, and start on the path to proto-hacker status.

Just found my Maggot!

I've just loaded the first 30 episodes of the Maggot Show back onto my computer! I haven't listened to this stuff in ages. Maybe I could talk Rodney Hyde into playing some in parliament. Would certainly be an intellectual improvement over the shite spouted by our current ruling party. Might also help Act during the next election.

Hurrah! A Visitor!

Thank you, Stormcrowe. For me, the difference between the 2 kinds of problems is that being rich makes opportunities a little easier to see. At the moment, my focus is stuck on keeping my family housed, clothed, and fed, from one week to the next. Granted, there are many in worse positions, and I count my blessings every day. However, I'd like to materially help those in worse situations than I, and my own govt. is intent on keeping as many as possible tied to its apron strings. There are a number of things I could do to develop my own income, which I'd try in a heartbeat if I were single.
Making swords, and hopefully, websites, are some of my options, but I have to step very carefully to avoid losing our regular income. My pride is a small price to pay to keep my wife and children fed etc.

Ground it, then pound it.

I've finally got my hands on the steel I need. I just bought 1 metre x 7mm x 60mm of hardened, tempered spring steel. With the help of an angle grinder and a small work table, I hope to turn it into a matched pair of short swords, with some nice leather scabbards. Once I get a handle on posting pictures here, I'll use this as a diary of the process. Hopefully I'll be able to sell them for enough to maintain the process, and even build myself a forge one day.
